Giant Petrel (Macronectes giganteus)

Giant petrels are among the best known of the ocean wanderers, and breed at many island sites within New Zealand waters. They are regularly seen from the Elm Conservation area. In the image above the giant petrel is being followed by a Black browed albatross.
